Johnnette Jasper, a social worker at MedStar Washington Hospital, nominated Florence Arinaitwe for a CaringOn gift in recognition of her dedication to caring for her brother, Chris. Chris, a 52-year-old husband and father of young children, was gravely ill with stomach cancer. Both Florence and Chris had emigrated from Uganda to the U.S. Despite living in Ohio with her three young children, Florence made frequent trips to care for him. After Chris passed away, Florence needed a break while preparing for his funeral. CaringOn provided her with a weekend stay at a nearby hotel, offering her some much-needed rest from her difficult responsibilities.
