It is with great sorrow that I write to inform you that Judy Davanzo, Founder of CaringOn, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 2nd, at 8:45 am at Gilchrist Hospice surrounded by her family.
To those who knew her, Judy was unforgettable, a force of nature, an indefatigable spirit, a creative soul.
Judy Goldberg Davanzo was also a brave and compassionate champion of people struggling with illness and the caregivers that took care of them. After being diagnosed with terminal cancer herself four years ago, she created an organization called CaringOn, and shined her light on others, devoting herself to taking care of caregivers of advanced cancer patients.
Her courageous spirit, unfathomable strength, and boundless love washed over all the people she touched – and she showed everyone what it is to live life with purpose, fight the good fight, and believe in the power of love. Her soul lives on in me and in this organization, and I am very lucky to have known her, worked with her, and thanked caregivers with her.
A viewing has been set for Thursday at Ruck Funeral Home at 1050 York Road in Towson, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and then from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Nativity, 20 E. Ridgely Road, Timonium. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Judy’s memory to CaringOn online (click here to make a donation) or send to CaringOn, P.O. Box 851, Brooklandville, MD 21022.
We have created a wonderful place for people to share stories about Judy Davanzo on a webpage provided by an organization called The Stories Between. To share your story about Judy, which will serve as a comfort and support for Drew, Reese, Trace and Judy’s entire family, please click here.
Thank you for supporting Judy and CaringOn. We continue our cause in her honor.
