We are saddened to report that Erin Leland lost her battle with metastatic breast cancer this week. Our hearts go out to her loving husband Rich and her family and friends on her tragic passing.
Erin Leland is a 42-year-old metastatic breast cancer patient who has been dealing with breast cancer for 10 years. She was first diagnosed when she was 31 years old. She is married to Richard Leland and they have 11-year-old twins – a boy and a girl. Erin has undergone 3 different hormonal treatments that have failed and are now undergoing oral chemotherapy while she fights the disease. She continues to teach English to high school students in Howard County, Maryland. She says of her husband and caregiver, Rich, that “he is the greatest human being I know. He is OUR rock. Not only does he take care of me, he takes care of us.” Erin and CaringOn gave Rich 6 tickets to his favorite team, the Orioles, for a day at the ballpark to “recharge, relax, and renew” his energy and take a break from his caregiving responsibilities.
